As an architect and artist my work is grounded in the patterns, textures, and processes of the natural world. In my early work, this interest in organic forms and repetition was expressed as hand-built items in ceramic, and later bronze. These themes continue in my site-specific installations, alternative sculptures, and works on paper that I have exhibited throughout Belgium, Sweden, California, Arizona and Washington.
I work with elemental materials that require a direct tactile manipulation using minimal tools. Graphite, paper, and newsprint are derived from trees, and clay is of the earth. The materials may change, but the process of repetition and the exploration to reveal the invisible remains constant.
